Adapting critical infrastructure to Climate Change#
In the context of climate change, extreme events are increasing both in terms of intensity and frequency of ocurrence, leading to direct and indirect impacts across all aspects of our economy, society, and environment. To reduce the impact of extreme weather events, it is key to develop strategic adaptation pathways that are relevant to the local context and that can enhance the resilience to climate change.
The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change focuses on supporting EU regions, cities and local authorities in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. At the core of the Mission is a clear overarching goal: to support at least 150 European regions, local authorities and communities towards climate resilience by 2030. The MIRACA Project is part of this initiative, supporting the understanding of the adaptation strategies with a focus on the Critical Infrastruture sector.
